Candice Whealon

Dr. Candice Whealon is the DNP Program Co-Director at the University of California Irvine Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing. She is an Assistant Professor and focuses on nursing research to improve hospital patient outcomes, promote ER nurse wellness, and advance the utilization of advanced practice providers in the emergency room. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh with a concentration as a family nurse practitioner and a minor in nursing education. Prior to joining UC Irvine as DNP faculty, she was the West Division Regional Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Envision Physician Services, managing the physician assistants and nurse practitioners of three community emergency departments in Southern California. She is the immediate past president of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners Orange County and the immediate past founding President of the UC Irvine Alumni Association School of Nursing Chapter.

Junjie Zhang

Robert Hoss, M.S. is the International Conference Director and Past President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, from which he received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. He also directs the DreamScience Foundation for co-funding dream research grants. He is a member of APA, on the research committee of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology, a Haden Institute faculty instructor, and on the board of the National Institute for Integrative Healthcare. He and his wife, Lynne Hoss, M.A. Clinical Psychology, CEHP, developed the Dream to Freedom protocol along with a uniquely scripted role-play dreamwork protocol derived from Gestalt Therapy training. They authored the handbook Dream to Freedom (EP Press) extracts of which have been published in two other clinical manuals and three peer-reviewed journals. Aisha Y Malik

Dr. Aisha Y Malik is an Associate of the Phronesis Foundation, an Associate Tutor at Warwick Medical school, University of Warwick, and a Tutor at the Dept. for Continuing Education, University of Oxford. She has experience in conducting empirical ethics research and teaching medical and research ethics, to undergraduate and postgraduate students in varied cultural contexts. Her research interests are mainly in gender’s role in decision-making, justice in medical research and phronesis. She developed a staged approach to making practically wise decisions that are being used in developing an app- the ‘wisdom wheel’  for making ethically wise decisions at the moment as also in debriefing and MDT  sessions.

Colleen F Inouye

Colleen F Inouye is the Interim Executive Director for the Hawaii Independent Physicians Association.  She graduated from Rosalind Franklin University/Chicago Medical School and completed an internship/residency at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center. She has a Master’s degree from both Thomas Jefferson University in Population Health and the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in Medical Management.  She is a Board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and an Assistant Professor, co-directing the University of Hawaii Manoa JABSOM students who complete clinical rotations on Maui.  She has written about physician burn-out. Colleen has earned Fellowships from both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leadership, where she is a Board member.  She enjoys working with physicians and advocating for them.

Maria Clelia Zurlo

Maria Clelia Zurlo is a Full Professor of Dynamic Psychology and Head of the Dynamic Psychology Laboratory at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. Her research covers the areas of Health Psychology and focuses on the development and applications of models and tools for the evaluation of stress dimensions and psychological and physical health conditions with reference to a wide range of target populations i.e., nurses, students, teachers, immigrant workers, partners of infertile couples, clinical patients. She is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in these areas of expertise, with several international co-authors. She has been involved in national and international research projects aimed at gaining a greater understanding of stress and well-being processes in different contexts (e.g., healthcare sector, educational contexts, occupational contexts).

Melissa Brunsvold

University of Minnesota, USA

Dr. Brunsvold is the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. She also serves as the Clinical Director of the SimPORTAL Simulation Center. She serves as the Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and as the Medical Director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Program. Nationally, Dr. Brunsvold participates in leadership and committee work in several organizations, including recently serving as Chair of the Education Research Committee of the Association for Surgical Education. She has contributed substantially to the Fundamentals of Surgery Curriculum and the ASPIRES project of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Brunsvold has been nationally recognized for her contributions to education, she received the Phillip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teaching Award from the Association for Surgical Education in 2014. She also received the 2009 Education Specialty Award for a submission to the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Mark Gray is an independent Nurse Consultant in Learning Disability and a Visiting Tutor at the Birmingham City University School of Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment). Which trains Rehabilitation officers for the Visually Impaired. Mark is a frequent guest lecturer at twelve other UK universities for the Degree in Learning Disability Nursing. Mark runs a successful Health & social care training and consultancy business and is involved in a mixture of clinical practice, teaching, and Policy development most recently working with the British Council and the Government of Azerbaijan in promoting employment for disabled people. He is a former Chair of the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and Pohwer a UK-wide Advocacy Organisation.

Andriana Summers

Dr. Summers is a Speciality Doctor in Emergency Medicine and has been working since 2015 in the Emergency Department at Airedale General Hospital, West Yorkshire, UK. She moved to live in the UK in 1996 and qualified as a nurse in 2002, obtaining  BSc(Hons) in Nursing Practice from the University of Bradford, and in 2005 completed PG Cert MSc Advancing Clinical Practice at Huddersfield University. In 2006 she enrolled to study medicine and was awarded an MBBS (Distinction) by the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

Dr. Summers worked as an Emergency Nurse for 3 years at Calderdale Royal Hospital and whilst studying medicine, she continued to work as a qualified Nurse across different hospitals and EDs.

Dr. Summers is passionate about education and contributing towards advancing clinical knowledge for all healthcare professionals.

Juji Resurreccion

Juji Resurreccion is the Director of Nursing for Inpatient Services at Kaiser Permanente Irvine. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills, California. She will graduate with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in December 2023 from Aspen Univerity in Phoenix, Nevada. She is knowledgeable about quality initiatives and practice change to improve health outcomes and is a catalyst of practice change, creating innovative ideas to drive staff engagement in implementing creative workflows. Her work at the organizational level includes being the Co-leader for the Prevention of Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injury committee, which is instrumental in decreasing hospital-acquired pressure injuries.

Fernanda Ramos Franco de Sá

Fernanda Ramos Franco de Sá is a Medical Doctor / Dermatologist from Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia (SBD) / Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Dermatológica (SBCD) / Brazilian Melanoma Group (GBM), in Rio de Janeiro. She has her own private practice, working mainly with Surgical and Aesthetic Dermatology. Her concern for aesthetic results and safety brought speed and care to the case in question. Prashanth Gunanayagam

Dr. Prashanth Gunanayagam is an unaccredited registrar in vascular surgery working at Liverpool Hospital, South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). His research interests are in the complex management of diabetic foot disease, endovascular therapies for peripheral arterial and venous disease, and wound care management. He is committed to the delivery of holistic care to patients with DFD in a cost-effective manner.  

Joycelyn Desarno

Joycelyn Desarno is a Nurse Educator in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University Health. She has worked at bedside as a NICU Staff Nurse III For 34 years and has developed clinical practice guidelines on Skin Care of Neonates, Gastrostomy Care in infants, and Prevention and Management of Peripheral intravenous Infiltration/Extravasation in Infants (Published by Neonatal Network). She actively participates in Quality and Process Improvement for patients to achieve better health outcomes and positive experiences.

Gözde ÖZARAS ÖZ is a faculty member in the Department of Nursing Fundamentals at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Health Sciences. She is the vice dean and senate representative of Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Health Sciences. She has studied on nursing education, leadership in nursing, nursing and innovation. She has two patents related to the patient washing bed, a TÜBİTAK project and a company related to her project. She has also worked on the establishment of a Halotherapy and Rehabilitation center. She has planned and conducted many studies for the development of nursing education.

Carlene Igbedioh

St Thomas' NHS Foundation, UK

Carlene is an advanced clinical nurse specialist and Independent Nurse Prescriber at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). She developed the continence service across all pelvic poor disciplines when first started at GSTT 21 years ago. First nurse in the UK to lead the nurse-led telephone assessment clinic for pelvic poor dysfunction. This is a new service set up by the colorectal department at GSTT. Carlene has lectured extensively in both the UK and internationally about the role of nurse-led conservative assessment and management of pelvic poor dysfunction.

Gay L. Goss

Dr. Gay L. Goss is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner and a full nursing professor at United States University in Austin, Texas. She received her advanced practice nursing education and Ph.D. in nursing science at the University of California San Francisco, where she was a Eugene Cotta Robles fellowship recipient. Her professional experience includes advanced clinical practice, academia, expert medical malpractice witness work, and consulting. Research interests include pregnancy outcomes in the Hispanic population, perception of pain with elective termination, preterm labor, endometriosis, cardiovascular health in women, and dysmenorrhea in adolescents, and vasomotor symptoms of menopause. Dr. Goss has presented at national and international nursing conferences and published on these topics in a variety of professional healthcare journals. She also has served extensively as a peer reviewer and editorial advisory board member for nursing and women’s health journals and organizations.

Euzeli da Silva Brandão

Euzeli da Silva Brandão is an Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing and Administration and a Permanent Professor of the Professional Master's Degree in Assistantial Nursing at the Fluminense Federal University. President of the Brazilian Association of Nursing in Dermatology - Rio de Janeiro Regional. Ph.D. in Nursing from the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Specialist in Dermatological Nursing by the Brazilian Society of Nursing in Dermatology. Experience in Nursing, with an emphasis on Dermatology, working on the topics: of maintenance and recovery of skin integrity, and care for people with skin conditions such as immunobullous dermatoses and psoriasis.

Wei-Jie Wang

Wei-Jie Wang serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Continew Medical, Inc. From 2015 to 2020, she concentrated her studies on tropical medicine and parasitology. Subsequently, from 2020 to 2023, she transitioned her research focus to next-generation sequencing and the study of rare diseases. Currently, her research program emphasizes the extraction and purification of specific exosomes, along with conducting cell-based and animal-based studies.

Hanan Daghash

Al-Gad International Colleges for Applied Medical Sciences, Saudi Arabia

Hanan Daghash is a nurse and researcher with experience in healthcare systems. Currently residing in Saudi Arabia, Hanan has a Master of Medicine Science from Malaya University in Malaysia and a Bachelor of Nursing Science from The Hashemite University in Jordan. Hanan has pursued continuing education in various subjects such as Data Skills Workforce Development, Data Management for Clinical Research, and Statistical Analysis. Her research experience includes being a Graduate Researcher at the University of Malaya, where she coordinated program development, implementation, evaluation, and budgeting. Hanan's current role is as a Research Coordinator at Al-Gahd International College, where she works with faculty to improve data entry, management, and analysis. She is also a peer reviewer, providing written and unbiased feedback on the scholarly merits and scientific value of works.

Maureen Jersby

Northumbria University, Newcastle, England

Dr Maureen Jersby is an Assistant Professor at Northumbria University. She is the program lead for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice. Maureen completed her Ph.D. studies Establishing the Benefits of Utilising Simulation-based Education in an Undergraduate Nursing Programme under the supervision of Professor Paul Van Schaik at Teesside University.  Maureen leads the clinical skills sustainable practice group.

Margaret DiRuggiero

United States Air Force Academy, USA

Margaret DiRuggiero is a senior at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO. She looks forward to graduating in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Mandarin. She plans to attend medical school in Fall 2024. Her passion for scientific publishing and presenting began in high school starting the first online, peer-reviewed, open-access journal for middle and high school girls to encourage them to stay in STEM. In undergrad, she has published 8 articles focused on dermatology and primary care and is excited to continue learning through publishing and presenting. 

Dieudonne Kayiranga

University of Rwanda, Rwanda

Dr Dieudonne Kayiranga is a nurse clinician, educator, researcher and leader specialised in paediatric nursing with extensive research in HIV care and adolescent health. Dr Kayiranga holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Rwanda, where he also completed his Master's in Paediatric Nursing, and has been a faculty member since 2011. His extensive career includes roles such as Deputy Coordinator for Research and Postgraduate Programmes, Head of the Department of General Nursing, and Deputy Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Rwanda. In the field of HIV research, Dr Kayiranga has made a significant impact with his PhD study focusing on the concept of 'successful living' among adolescents with HIV in Rwanda, with the aim of improving health outcomes and quality of life for this population. He has attended various Universities as a visiting scholar, such as Duke University School of Nursing in the  USA and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in Canada. He presented his findings at numerous international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to the advancement of HIV care practices. Dr Kayiranga's work is instrumental in shaping health policy and support for adolescents living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.

Jolanta Tupikienė

Republican Klaipeda Hospital, Lithuania

Jolanta Tupikiene is an anaesthetic nurse at Republican Klaipeda Hospital, Lithuania. She holds a master's degree in health sciences obtained at Klaipeda University, Lithuania 2023. For many years Jolanta practiced nursing in the United Kingdom, where she gained experience in respiratory and cardiac nursing also interventional radiology. Her program of research is focused on quality of life. 

Karin L. Ciance

Anna Maria College, USA

Dr. Ciance received her RN diploma in Nursing from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, and her BSN and MS in Community Health Nursing from Worcester State University. She received her DNP from Walden University. She has 41 years of nursing experience working in various roles and different settings. She is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Nursing at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. teaching in the Pre-Licensure BSN program and the RN-BSN program.  She is the President of the Iota Phi-at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  

Yaffa Ein-Gal

Ministery of Health, Israel

Dr. Ein-Gal received her PhD. from Ben-Gurion University for her research work on Palliative Care and Dying Patient Law. This law enables terminal patients to avoid unnecessary resuscitation and other interventions. After teaching at the Academic Nursing School at the Shamir Hospital for 23 years, Dr. Ein-Gal has been working as Manager of Surveys and Quality Audits in the QA and Safety Division at the Israel MoH. There she manages research surveys on a range of subjects, including End-Of-Life Care, Diabetes, Anesthesia, Organizational Safety Culture, Covid-19, At-Home Hospitalization and other topics. Dr. Ein-Gal has published over 80 reports and research papers and has been active in the Patient Safety Culture Group at the OECD since 2020. 

Coşkun Usta

Akdeniz Medical school, Turkey

Prof. Coşkun Usta has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine since 1993. In 2003, He participated in research in Rome, Italy. His main research areas include central nervous system diseases and diabetes. His special interest is microbiota and nutrition.

Cidália de Fátima Cabral de Frias

Universidade dos Açores, Portugal

Cidália de Fátima Cabral de Frias is a coordinating professor at the School of Health of the University of the Azores. She holds a degree in Adults and Elderly people with Chronic Diseases and a Master's Degree in Educational Sciences. She also has a PhD in Nursing from the University of Lisbon. She has published three books and several articles in areas of interest such as palliative care and care for the elderly. He has held several management and scientific positions.

Jennifer Warters

Living Memory Research Trust, United Kingdom

Jennifer initially qualified as a speech and language therapist. She became a specialist clinician in hospitals, schools, and community settings in the north of England, with adults and children, many of whom had a history of trauma. These included adults with learning disabilities who had experienced family neglect and physical, emotional, mental, and sexual abuse,e often over decades. Many patients had cognitive and behavioural problems due to their horrific experiences during long-stay residence in Victorian ‘asylums’.  Jennifer provided consultancy liaison with group homes, supporting staff and residents in applying an integrative holistic approach to residential care.

Jennifer’s work with children with additional needs, including clients with cognitive, visual and auditory impairment and mobility issues, led her to seek alternative approaches through post-graduate training in metaphysics, energy healing and sound vibration. Senior roles as Tutor therapist and Principal of The Academy of Spiritual Sciences followed. Specialist clinical research into Tinnitus, identifying stress and trauma as underlying causative factors, led to her successful therapy programme for this intractable condition through an online consultancy with Living Memory Research Trust.  Jennifer’s current research focuses on the healing application of vocal sound (toning) and energy alignment. 

José Carlos Lopes

José Carlos Lopes is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Health of the University of the Azores. He holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Didactics of Higher Education and Organization of Educational Institutions, obtained within the framework of the European Doctorate in Educational Sciences, from the University of Seville. He has a master’s degree in educational sciences from the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon. He is a Sociologist and holds the Title of Higher Education Specialist in the Scientific Area of Nursing. After completing her nursing degree in 1988, Samira held various nursing and administrative positions before obtaining her PhD in Public Health in 2012. Since then, she has worked as a lecturer at Emek Yezreel College while also serving as Head of the Health Promotion Department and the Head of the Research Department within the north district of the Ministry of Health.

Thomas Heise

Thomas Heise studied Sinology, prehistory, and archeology and got a PhD. He is an MD, first working in internal medicine for some years. He studied TCM in China for two years (acupuncture, qigong, taijiquan) then nature healing. After a successful career in psychiatry and psychotherapy, he wrote another PhD thesis and became an assistant professor at the medical university of Hannover. Later, he was Chief Doctor at the psychiatric department of the city hospital in Zwickau for five years. He changed to China and worked there in his own daytime clinic for about three years. Now he is working in his private holistic ambulance for psychotherapy in Switzerland. He was chair and co-chair for several years of the German society for anthropology/ethnomedicine (AGEM). He founded and edited a book series on transcultural issues with 20 volumes for professionals, published many articles and some books on trans and cultural issues, traditional Chinese medicine, Corona-syndrom and holistic health. 

Alain CARTIGNY

Alain CARTIGNY is a senior healthcare executive, educational manager and deputy director of the operating room nursing school at the Montpellier University Hospital (France). Since 1989, he was successively an operating room nurse and then a specialized operating room nurse from 1996 and worked in several hospitals. Having become a healthcare executive in 2008, he managed various care teams until 2011, when he joined his current position, first as a trainer and then as educational manager from January 2014.
