Emad Abdurasul

Emad Abdurasul is an assistant professor at James Madison University in the USA. Dr. Stern is a board-certified neurosurgeon in North Carolina, USA.  In 2015, his sister Victoria died of leukemia following a bone marrow transplant and a year later, her husband Pat died of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.  He realized the need for greater compassion and empathy in medicine and to surrender emotional armor in favor of emotional agility.  He is the author of “Grief Connects Us: A Neurosurgeon’s Lessons on Love, Loss, and Compassion,” as well as articles in The New York Times, the Washington Post, World Neurosurgery, Journal of Palliative Medicine, and JAMA. Aisha Y Malik

Phronesis Foundation, United Kingdom

Dr. Aisha Y Malik is an Associate of the Phronesis Foundation, an Associate Tutor at Warwick Medical school, University of Warwick, and a Tutor at the Dept. for Continuing Education, University of Oxford. She has experience in conducting empirical ethics research and teaching medical and research ethics, to undergraduate and postgraduate students in varied cultural contexts. Her research interests are mainly in gender’s role in decision-making, justice in medical research and phronesis. She developed a staged approach to making practically wise decisions that are being used in developing an app- the ‘wisdom wheel’  for making ethically wise decisions at the moment as also in debriefing and MDT  sessions.

Colleen F Inouye

Colleen F Inouye is the Interim Executive Director for the Hawaii Independent Physicians Association.  She graduated from Rosalind Franklin University/Chicago Medical School and completed an internship/residency at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center. She has a Master’s degree from both Thomas Jefferson University in Population Health and the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in Medical Management.  She is a Board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and an Assistant Professor, co-directing the University of Hawaii Manoa JABSOM students who complete clinical rotations on Maui.  She has written about physician burn-out. Colleen has earned Fellowships from both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leadership, where she is a Board member.  She enjoys working with physicians and advocating for them.

Maria Clelia Zurlo

Maria Clelia Zurlo is a Full Professor of Dynamic Psychology and Head of the Dynamic Psychology Laboratory at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. Her research covers the areas of Health Psychology and focuses on the development and applications of models and tools for the evaluation of stress dimensions and psychological and physical health conditions with reference to a wide range of target populations i.e., nurses, students, teachers, immigrant workers, partners of infertile couples, clinical patients. She is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in these areas of expertise, with several international co-authors. She has been involved in national and international research projects aimed at gaining a greater understanding of stress and well-being processes in different contexts (e.g., healthcare sector, educational contexts, occupational contexts).

Melissa Brunsvold

University of Minnesota, USA

Dr. Brunsvold is the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. She also serves as the Clinical Director of the SimPORTAL Simulation Center. She serves as the Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and as the Medical Director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Program. Nationally, Dr. Brunsvold participates in leadership and committee work in several organizations, including recently serving as Chair of the Education Research Committee of the Association for Surgical Education. She has contributed substantially to the Fundamentals of Surgery Curriculum and the ASPIRES project of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Brunsvold has been nationally recognized for her contributions to education, she received the Phillip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teaching Award from the Association for Surgical Education in 2014. She also received the 2009 Education Specialty Award for a submission to the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Mark Gray is an independent Nurse Consultant in Learning Disability and a Visiting Tutor at the Birmingham City University School of Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment). Which trains Rehabilitation officers for the Visually Impaired. Mark is a frequent guest lecturer at twelve other UK universities for the Degree in Learning Disability Nursing. Mark runs a successful Health & social care training and consultancy business and is involved in a mixture of clinical practice, teaching, and Policy development most recently working with the British Council and the Government of Azerbaijan in promoting employment for disabled people. He is a former Chair of the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and Pohwer a UK-wide Advocacy Organisation.

Andriana Summers

Dr. Summers is a Speciality Doctor in Emergency Medicine and has been working since 2015 in the Emergency Department at Airedale General Hospital, West Yorkshire, UK. She moved to live in the UK in 1996 and qualified as a nurse in 2002, obtaining  BSc(Hons) in Nursing Practice from the University of Bradford, and in 2005 completed PG Cert MSc Advancing Clinical Practice at Huddersfield University. In 2006 she enrolled to study medicine and was awarded an MBBS (Distinction) by the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

Dr. Summers worked as an Emergency Nurse for 3 years at Calderdale Royal Hospital and whilst studying medicine, she continued to work as a qualified Nurse across different hospitals and EDs.

Maria Tan is a Nurse Consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Royal Wolverhampton Trust (United Kingdom) with additional qualifications as a non-medical independent prescriber and an MSc degree in Advanced Clinical Practice including a vast experience in GI/Liver where she served as a junior staff nurse (2003), progressed into senior nursing roles from 2005 including the Directorate’s Matron (2017) before she took her the clinical pathway in 2019 as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Her professional portfolio focuses on nursing advancements, service improvement and team collaborations. Prashanth Gunanayagam

Dr. Prashanth Gunanayagam is a vascular surgical registrar at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He completed his medical training at Imperial College, London. His research focuses on wound care in those with diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, and associated co-morbidities. His work has contributed to the development of hospital-based high-risk wound clinics to address and streamline care across local communities.

Anas Ismail

Tebogo Tsele-Tebakang

Dr. Tebogo Tsele-Tebakang is the HOD at the Department of Complementary Medicine at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa. She is a qualified Homeopathic practitioner. She obtained her master’s degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2006. She started lecturing in 2009 in the Department of Homeopathy at the University of Johannesburg. Carlene Igbedioh

St Thomas' NHS Foundation, UK

Carlene is an advanced clinical nurse specialist and Independent Nurse Prescriber at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). She developed the continence service across all pelvic poor disciplines when first started at GSTT 21 years ago. First nurse in the UK to lead the nurse-led telephone assessment clinic for pelvic poor dysfunction. This is a new service set up by the colorectal department at GSTT. Carlene has lectured extensively in both the UK and internationally about the role of nurse-led conservative assessment and management of pelvic poor dysfunction.

Kimberly Cockerham

Dr. Kimberly Cockerham specializes in Ophthalmology, with a special focus on Eyelid Surgery/Blepharoplasty, Botox and Oculoplastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She practices primarily in San Diego, CA, and is affiliated with Sharp Grossmont Hospital. Dr. Cockerham graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1987 and completed her training at Walter Reed Army Med Ctr, and Allegheny Genl Hosp. Nguyen Hoang Long

Nguyen Hoang Long is an Assistant Professor at the College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity, Ha Noi, Vietnam. He also serves as the Program Director of the Bachelor of Nursing Program and the Director of the Medical Simulation Center, VinUniversity. His research focuses on palliative care, death attitudes, nursing education, and leadership and management. Dr. Long founded the country’s first undergraduate nursing program at a private university. He has contributed significantly to the development of nursing education in Vietnam by acting as one leader of the country’s nurse educator association, reviewer, and advisor for curriculum development at graduate and undergraduate levels for various institutions.

Keri O. Brenner

Stanford University, USA

Keri Brenner, MD, MPA is a palliative care physician, psychiatrist, and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Brenner was a philosophy major at the University of Notre Dame where she later was nominated as the youngest member of Notre Dame’s Board of Trustees. She is a graduate of Yale Medical School (2011), and was a Zuckerman fellow for Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership where she received a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School. She completed a psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (2015), and a palliative care fellowship at Harvard (2016) and subsequently served as a psychiatric palliative care consultant for MGH. In addition to her numerous nationally invited talks, Dr. Brenner has been awarded funding through Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute, the Rosenkranz Foundation and a fellowship with the American Psychoanalytic Association to deepen knowledge on the psychological dimensions of life-limiting illness.

Judith A. Anaman

Judith A. Anaman is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho-Ghana. Dean for Students Affairs UHAS,  with additional responsibilities as a Faculty at the Department of Public Health Nursing. She served as a consultant for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. Her research interests are Reproductive Health, Women’s Health, HIV/AIDS, and Non-communicable Diseases. Nicholas Danzima Yakubu

Nicholas Danzima Yakubu is expertise in clinical Nursing management and the application of Nursing models in clinical care to enhance the provision of quality and patient-centered-individualistic care. His passion is to ensure the use of Evidence-based-nursing care in ensuring quality and precision in nursing decision-making during care. He is an ardent follower of the interpretivist/constructivist paradigm in conjunction with the Philosophical views of Martin Heidegger in finding the truth/reality. As a health worker and Lecturer, he believes this is the way to go about caring for our patients since human beings cannot be reduced to static entities, human behavior cannot be independent of time and context as opposed to the view of positivism, and human beings have multiple experiences of the same phenomenon and hence should be considered individualistic as against the view of positivism.
